IN order to succeed on and off the court, the Mission Queensland Firebirds know the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

That’s why Firebirds Clare McMeniman, Laura Scherian and Sophie Croft will be at the Queensland Health Ekka display this year to teach kids how to get more active. Queensland Health is a major sponsor of the Mission Queensland Firebirds.

The Queensland Health display has some great information about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including tips on how to get your two daily serves of fruit and five serves of vegetables, staying healthy through good hygiene, and incorporating 30 minutes of exercise each day.

The Firebirds will be talking to visitors while handing out fruit in the Frank Nicklin Pavilion on August 6, 11 and 14.

But the fun doesn’t have to finish when the Ekka closes for the year – you can enter a competition at the Queensland Health display to win a free netball clinic with the Mission Queensland Firebirds.

The clinic will involve netball skills, question and answer sessions and heaps of prizes and giveaways.
Mission Queensland Firebird Clare McMeniman said that, as an athlete, she knows the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

“Leading a healthy lifestyle does not stop at just eating the right foods, but in everything we do from physical activity, oral health, injury prevention and more,” she said.

“Queensland Health has a range of material at their stand at the Ekka to help everyone make a change in order to lead a healthier lifestyle.”

Come and meet the Mission Queensland Firebirds and the Queensland Health team between 11am – 12pm on August 6, 11 and 14 and learn about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
