Sarah Wall playing for the Mission Queensland Firebirds
AFTER a successful season with the Mission Queensland Firebirds, mid-courter Sarah Wall has decided to return home to Victoria.
Wall who quickly made her mark in the ANZ Championships during the 2010 season with the Mission Queensland Firebirds under the guidance of coach Roselee Jencke said the decision not to return to Queensland was hard.
Following her injury in Round 11 in the ANZ Championships, Wall returned home for rehabilitation, and her time with family and friends made her realise how much she missed her home.
Wall said it was with a heavy heart she was leaving the Mission Queensland Firebirds.
“I have made lifelong friends in Queensland, but at the same time I am really happy to be coming home,” she said.
“I would like to thank the Firebirds for every opportunity they have given me, especially Rose who believed in me.”
Netball Queensland CEO Cameron O’Hara said Sarah made a valuable contribution to the Mission Queensland Firebirds during 2010.
“It is always hard for players to relocate, leaving their family and friends behind to focus on their sporting career and it is not always the right decision for some,” he said.
“While it is always disappointing to lose a player of Sarah’s calibre I respect her decision to return home to her family.
“I am very sorry to see Sarah go, I understand her reasons and I wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”
Prior to her season with the Mission Queensland Firebirds, Victorian born Wall played the 2009 ANZ Championship season with the Melbourne Vixens and played three years in the CBT.
Wall will play for the Melbourne Vixens in 2011.
Meanwhile Mission Queensland Firebirds five star international players Romelda Aiken, Laura Geitz, Natalie Medhurst, Lauren Nourse and Amy Steel will all return to play the 2011 season with the Mission Queensland Firebirds.
