Mission Queensland Firebirds History

The Commonwealth Bank Trophy is Australia’s premier netball competition, celebrating its 11th and final season in 2007.

When it was launched in 1997, the competition was made up of eight teams:

• Sydney Swifts
• Melbourne Phoenix
• Adelaide Thunderbirds
• Melbourne Kestrels
• Queensland Firebirds
• Perth Orioles
• Sydney Sandpipers
• Adelaide Ravens

Queensland Firebirds competed in every year of the CBT from when it began in 1997 to its last year in 2007.

The Queensland Firebirds were then one of 10 teams from Australia and New Zealand to move on to bigger and better things in 2008 in the inaugural ANZ Championship.
